Sunday I was reading a couple of magazines a friend lent me, TURBO and Sports Car somethingoranother, and finished this months European Car and Car and Driver. You know, our engines are so un-modern (???) it's funny. Here I am trying to get more horsepower out of my engine and having to worry about something simple like heat build-up and these modern cars (European and Asian) can get hp increases rather simply (water-cooling is very helpful). Our engines are pretty much maxed out and you can't do a whole heck of a lot to increase power without cracking the case open. If you want to have more performance with FI you have to get a programmable after-market system since our hardcoded ones are EXTREMELY limited. I know that our engines are a product of the times but you don't realize just how antique they are until you check out the new stuff available under the hoods today. Hmm, I wonder how much it'll set me back to shoehorn a stock 2.7L, 4-cylinder, FI, Subaru boxer in the 'back...
