Like mine, they are in identical boxes, so are not paired anyway. Try them as they are first. I think my pads had a slot, but could be wrong. The whole pad is only about the size of an ungrooved part of some other pads, so its role in water removal is probably marginal anyway. If you seem to get delayed response in the wet, you know what to do! Jim, I'll let you know abouit squeal and wear when I've done some miles (could be some time yet). The pistons don't have the anti-disc run-out mechanism either. The newer VW models don't seem to have any plates at all. Dave.
