You're into one of the most difficult and frustrating parts of 
restoring type 3s.  Be glad you do not have a car with the late 
seats, at these are much more poorly made.

I found a similar fiber replacement at an upholstery shop here.  It 
is not the same, but adequate.  I use several layers: upside down 
carpet to keep the springs from cutting through the padding, fiber, 
foam rubber.  The upholstery shop has foam in 3+ different densities; 
buy the middle or heavy.

Probably the same from 62 to mid 72.  I MAY have a decent used one.
