As they say in old Hungary, 'ez Istem, baszza labba fosszab.' I was afraid there'd be a keyway there. To answer you immediate question, no, I didn't see/feel/notice a keyway, despite much fiddling. Sigh. That means my fan is free to spin around like a button on a sh*thouse door, eh? Nads. Nads, nads, and more nads. So, either the inside bore of my fan is perfectly rounded out from vibration (most likely), the keyway has sheared/fallen off, or something drastic has happened to my crank. Is this what you're telling me? Damn. Know where I can buy a fan? > ---------- > From: Steven Ayres[SMTP:comwest@well.com] > Sent: Tuesday, December 15, 1998 1:53 AM > To: type3@vwtype3.org > Subject: Re: [T3] Gland Nuts > > > JMac=> 'Ding, ding, da-ding, ding, d-d-d-d-d-d-d-ding!' ... is there > => anything I should be concerned about? > > The key on your pulley -- the little knob that fits into the hole to > index it -- can easily go out of round, which puts your timing marks off > and allows the sort of vibration that can back the bolt out again, and > again, until the pin eventually shears off completely and you need a new > pulley.
