All the 914/4 2.0 engines (72-5) came with Bosch D-Jetronic The 914/4 1.7 engines (70-2) came with Bosch D-Jetronic The 914/4 1.8 engines (73-5) came with Bosch L-Jetronic the VW type 4 1.7 engines (70-73) came with D-Jetronic The VW type 4 1.8 engines (74) came with L-Jetronic All the D-Jetronic cars, including Volvo, Saab, Mercedes are quite similar in concept even if there are many minor differences in the design of installation-specific parts. The L-Jetronic systems are all completely different. The idle mixture adjustment was never used on type threes, but it was a part of later type 4, 914 and the others. It is not an important difference. It is still important to use the right brain for your car and engine. Of course this might well apply to the owner as well as the car.
