Bummer. In AZ they still do it; they strip and seal coat the tank, and it takes like four days to do, and it costs $125. So, depending on where in CA you are, but you might want to do a couple of weekends in sunny Arizona. They did it to my one Beetle like 6 years ago (I don't remember it costing more than like $45 at the time), and it was a wonderful job. -----Original Message----- From: Robert Braun [SMTP:vwsquare@yahoo.com] Sent: Friday, 11 December 1998 9:28 To: type3@vwtype3.org Subject: RE: [T3] gas Tank Cleaning ---James MacNaughton wrote: > > Any decent radiator shop will be able to boil out your gas tank perfectly. Aparently not in california.... I just called a radiator shop... they said that they used to do it but new regulations would have made them purchase a 75,000 permit each year to continue doing it.... he said he was one of the last one's to do it also.... mentioned some place in stockton Ca that would do it for about $250.... I think I'll just try cleaning it myself.... Robert '73 broken back _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
