ok, my car won't start; '69 FI, AT. a couple of weeks ago, it died a few times whilst driving in town when we went away for the weekend. the only way i could restart it was by pouring gas into the air intake distributor. this happened half a dÓr˜$ es then. then we drove home down the highway and it was fine (except the bad fuel consumption). i've been pottering about town since then, and it seemed to be ok until two days ago when it died again. so, after putting gas in the intake distributor, it started up and went for a couple of miles, then it died and wouldn't go again. first thing that seemed obvious to me is that it was not getting gas (since it only seemed to burn the stuff i poured in), so i removed the gas tank, took out the small in-tank filter (which was a bit gummed up, but not too bad) and basically it didn't seem too bad. the in-line filter is only a couple of months old, and has been replaced regularly. i also cleaned the plugs (black) and then it started up fine on its own. so i drove home yesterday evening, only to have it die 2 blocks from home. got it going with ye olde gas trick. now it won't start this morning. not at all. it burns the gas i pour in, then dies. the fuel pump seems fine - makes the characteristic whirr and two clicks. when it was going yesterday, i had 29psi of fuel pressure. now, when i turn the key a few times to build up pressure, and run round to the back of the car, the pressure is about 20psi. when the car actually does (did) go, it seems ok - doesn't seem to be being starved of gas. what could it be? clogged fuel injectors? do i have air in the fuel line that i can't displace? please help me before i'm towed. thanks sonny ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
