You obviously have some kind of charging system problem. The usual suspect for these symptoms is the VR, but you PROBABLY have that covered. Other possibilities are bad generator, short in wiring between generator and VR, or short in some other wiring somewhere. Do you have a voltmeter? If so, here's how to troubleshoot: 1) With the engine off, disconnect the DF wire from the generator and connect a voltmeter between the D+ terminal and ground. Start the car and with a wire or screwdriver or anything metal short the DF terminal to ground. 2) You should get some reading from the voltmeter when the DF terminal is grounded, a zero reading if there is no connection to the DF terminal. 3) With DF shorted to ground, watch the voltmeter while increasing the throttle. The voltage should come up to above 15 V whether you increase the engine speed quickly or slowly. Don't let the voltage stay above 15V for more than a couple of seconds at a time! At any given engine speed, the voltage output should stay constant as long as DF is shorted to ground. These tests verify proper operation of the generator. If it fails it must be replaced or repaired. If it passes, the problem is furthur down the line. Note that disconnecting the DF wire removes the VR from the picture, so problems here can ONLY be due to the generator Let us know what you find.
