OK, let's see: 61 Baja Had to sell it because the neighbors complained about the noise from the stinger exhaust, wasn't so bad because a non-complaining neighbor gave me his ex-wife's 70 Beetle which had been sitting in his back yard for 4 years. 66 Oldsmobile F-85 Hi-comp 350, dual exhaust, 2 speed auto, very fast! Sold that one to my mom. 70 Beetle Stock then lowered 4 1/2 inches, ghia discs, built 1641, shaved trim and door handles with solenoid operated lock, then after a couple of accidents turned it into a Baja with 30 inch Yokohamas on all 4 wheels which was then totaled when a lady tried to drive her Chevy S-10 pickup through it smashing the drivers side of the car in (walked away from that one with a sore hip and a small cut on my ankle from a piece of window glass that fell down in my shoe) Used the insurance money to buy my next one. 68 Baja IRS auto-stick converted to 4-speed, Porsche Guards red paint (attracted lots of cops), two seater with rear seat converted to a storage compartment, 33 X 12.50 tires. Had to sell that one when my son was born. 80 Toyota Tercel This one moved us from CA to NC towing a trailer. Blew the head gasket in the process, had to connect the windshield washer pump to the radiator overflow hose just to keep water in it. (when the temp gauge started to rise I hit the washer switch a few times to fill the radiator back up! you know what they say about necessity) 86 Plymouth Colt 1500 auto trans very slow but did it handle well! 71 Squareback Needed major work when I bought it and it sat for 3 years before getting it on the road. 88 1/2 Ford Escort this piece of crap is what finally got the square on the road, got tired of dumping money into it just to keep it running. The last straw for this car was the week when the radiator fan shorted out causing an electrical fire and blew a timing belt a few days later. (picture me trying to quickly disconnect the battery while blowing on the burning wires trying to put the fire out) Needless to say I am sold on the versatility and reliability of VWs! Sorry this is so long, but I hope you find a little humor in it. David 71 Squareback (hope to have this one for a looooong time) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much? Digest! mailto:type3-d-request@vwtype3.org Subj=subscribe
