"When we have shuffled off this mortal coil..." Hmmm, I never knew Hamlet drove a T3! Maybe he had the same problem that I'm having. To make a short story long (that's how professors fill an hour's lecture), some time back my '71 Sqbk died and would not start. Towed it home and stuffed it in the garage until it apologized. This weekend I got some time to mess with it. Replaced the coil and the starter...and it started slickern goose grease. I let it idle while I re-did all the tune up procedures...timing, idle speed, carb balance, etc. Then, when it was tuned and purring (and warm), I drove it down the highway. It ran like stink...for about 2 miles, then started missing...and died. Would not start (then or this morning). Towed it home and stuffed it in the garage until it gives me a REAL apology. Did not check the coil, but the symptoms are identical to those of the first breakdown. So...maybe two coils in less than 50 miles of driving. Not to mention the starter that I replaced two weekends ago. I have an 009 with Pertronix, but it has worked fine for several years. What gives? This situation stinks (just my two scents worth). All technical assistance, sympathy, moral support, and appropriate quotes from Shakespeare will be appreciated. Phil dillard@suu.edu "Drive carefully.
