Well, at least with all the mods the car will be functional, fun to drive and dollar expenditures will be decreased. Having a little bit of experience with my Porsche, restoring one is NOT inexpensive!!! I say go for the after-market FI set up because, after putting the *down payment* on that restorable sports car, you *still* have to finish paying it off, insurance will be higher, and parts ain't as cheap as they are for a VW. Believe me, that seven letter name is expensive :) Toby Erkson air_cooled_nut@pobox.com <-- Please use this address for email '72 VW Squareback 1.6L bored and stroked to 2.0L, Berg five-speed '75 Porsche 914 1.8L, ORPCA member Portland, Oregon, http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/8501/ >-----Original Message----- >Most of the aftermarket systems I've seen advertised take a lot of >fiddling to get installed and are in the neighborhood of $1-2K. >Basically a box of parts you have to figure out how to install. >Figure that cost plus the mechanic's time(or yours) on top of the >performance mods you want to make and you'll have a pretty good down >payment on that restorable Porsche. ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
