I don't think there's going to be any drop-in performance control boxes for stock D-Jetronic(unless you design and build one!). You could use 2 liter bus or 914 injectors for larger displacement engines, but you still wouldn't have a closed-loop engine management system like the latest engines have. Personally, I'm running 87mm cylinders, headers and 1.25 ratio rockers with the stock intake and FI system, that's about as far as I'm willing to push things under there. It adds a little zip, but really wouldn't have been worth the effort if I had done it all without needing an engine rebuild. Reliability WILL suffer if you start trying to get 200 horses out of the engine under the deck of a TIII. Read Gene Berg's technical articles. If you want performance and have the bucks, start with something like a restorable Porsche, at least you'll have some value there after you're done. The later ones have Bosch CIS and engine management systems, somewhat more amenable to tuning than D-Jetronic. If you want sports car performance, start with a sports car, you'll be money ahead. End of rant. Most of the aftermarket systems I've seen advertised take a lot of fiddling to get installed and are in the neighborhood of $1-2K. Basically a box of parts you have to figure out how to install. Figure that cost plus the mechanic's time(or yours) on top of the performance mods you want to make and you'll have a pretty good down payment on that restorable Porsche. The fact that Porsche went with CIS instead of sequential injection on their production cars tells me that sequential has some limits as to performance tuning. I think sequential has an edge on fuel economy, though. >From: noddaz@juno.com (scott a keck) >Date: Wed, 26 Aug 1998 17:52:40 -0400 >I brought this subject up once many moons ago about looking for a source >for a replacement ECU for a T3...
