Subject: Over-cleaning a car will put you in the hospital, not bring rain! Hey Volks! Well, I missed the Bug Show in Hood River, OR. Why? Lemme tell you... I spent the greater half of Saturday detailing my baby, and I do mean detailing. Door jambs, interior niches, engine, even wiping down the bottom of the engine (clean enough to eat from, wow, on a VW engine!). I was going to show those people what a clean, custom Type III really is, let me tell you! Welllll, at 3:45am on Sunday I awoke to a phone call from my friend, Lisa, to the words, "...my water broke...". Come again? Oh! Ten minutes later I was at the hospital pacing the hall waiting for her to show up (her cousin was in charge of her that particular night). Well, to make the story short, at 3:12pm on Sunday she gave birth to a healthy, 6-lbs 3-ozs, 19-inch baby girl! Am I sorry I missed the car show? Well, I was hoping to see if those official VW parts list were still available, but, being a birthing coach was a helluva lot more exciting and I'd miss two shows to help out again. Watching a baby being born was a great experience and any of you dudes out there expecting, soon to be expecting, or trying really hard so you can expect ;), I highly recommend you be their to assist -- it's a moving experience! I was doing fine, fascinated by the biomechanics of it all (the function), until I looked up and saw all the women crying...it got me all choked up as well (the emotional reality). Okay, okay, sometimes my brain leads more than my heart but at least it doesn't take much to have them switch positions. Ah well, at least my car was the cleanest one in the entire parking structure :) "Honorary Uncle" Toby Erkson air_cooled_nut@pobox.com <-- Please use this address for email '72 VW Squareback 1.6L bored and stroked to 2.0L, Berg five-speed '75 Porsche 914 1.8L, ORPCA member Portland, Oregon, http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/8501/ ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
