I think carbs are the first step that many people take to try to "cure" a problem that they don't understand. While I understand that this is not why everyone does it, I think it is a large part of our reality. What follows is an exasperated attempt to make a drivable car while moving further and farther from the original design. In the end the car is often completely non-functional, and in such a state of modification that no one can figure what is responsible for its problems. At this point you either sell it for almost nothing to someone like me, or drag it off to the crusher. Frankly we see those cars advertised on this list every week. They have been loved to death; are still not quite finished, and just need a bit more love and money to get them going although the well meaning owner has upgraded almost everything and still not quite managed to turn it into the car that he wanted. In case this matters to anyone, this is not a slam on anyone. Just a warning to those who might be tempted to start down that road.
