I reckon the main problem is the shortage of mechanics out there who are confident of fixing a FI T3. My local independent VW specialist is terrified of them, and I guess if he charged me several hours of work to sort it out, I'd be terrified of it too. As it happens, I only go there for advice and the occasional service item, since he doesn't really hold much stock for my 25+ year-olds. I even got a phone-call from the emergency tow-company for advice on a FI fault they were trying to fix by the roadside. Don't know yet if I was any help, though!
