Mike, There's not much difference in the valve to rocker gap around TDC on the firing stroke, since both valves have been shut for quite a while compressing, and will be staying shut quite a while while the exploding mixture expands. Just be in the right couple of inches of pulley. With the total valve clearance being only about 1/6th of a turn of the adjusting screw (1mm thread pitch), the adjustment will depend more on how carefully you turn and lock the screw than a tiny change in the cam surface.
