That way contact is certain. When I took the brush out is was making 1/2 contact with the armature. The reason? The armature surface was uneven, how? I do have no idea. Once back and the generator back together on the engine the light was on still!!!. I tap on the gen. again but this time the light stayed on. Oh! one brush was sticking because the sleeve was too small?!?! I carefully opened until the brush fit properly...good!, no more heavy sparks. I did the troubleshooting "a la Bently" everything check out ok but no output from the generator until the final check, the cables on the dash. The source of the problem is a short with the signal lights and the generator light. At one time my cousin (today's helping hand) was checking voltage on the voltage regulator and he said a cable slip and create some spark when it touch some metal surface. I think that had whatever was stuck to get unstuck and to the light to go off. Now the gen. create good output but when a turn signal is on the gen. light and the turn signal lights blinks. :) that will be tomorrow's task. ---------------------------------------------- >Both generators probably need new brushes. I guess that accidental spark gave us the source of the problem. Brushes where new all this time. (sorry I did not told you guys on my original message). I did had a stuck brush tho. It helps to have the tools that the Bently books says it is needed to complete the task. :) Yes Scott, you did make sense and thank you and Jim for the response. If I just could find a stock distributor PN 311 905 205L I'll be happy. If any of you have one that will like to sell let me know.
