Hi, Just in case and for future reference only. What does it cost to convert to carb(s) and do the heads need to be changed. I am trying at almost all cost to avoid this conversion because my car is in such wonderful shape. I have made three cross country trips in this car, and flawlessly. My future concern is a FI parts failure, leavin me S.O.L. in the middle of Rustybutt, Iowa. No offense to the citizens of Rustybutt. Is there, or can someone provide, a step-by-step process of converting to carbs. Is two one barrels better, in terms of longevity, than a single carb? I will do whatever it takes to keep my Fastback stock stock stock. But will switch to carbs if I cant feel good and comfortable driving vast distances without worry. At least I can field-repair a carb. I say carb coz I can't spell carbora,carbura,carbar...a aw heck, carb. Not long ago... One time I was at a mall parking lot in South Dakota, and this guy about sixty walks (quickly) all the way across several rows toward me, going,"hey, hey.hey, hold up,hold,hold,hold"...he says"what year?" I say "71" he then proceeds to tell me about the '67 he had for years and years. What the heck, I wasnt going anywhere,no hurry anyway. I think it's great when that happens. After about 20 minutes a lady shouts "let's go already!" from several rows away. This guy I'm talkin to says "Aw hush up will ya? Im a talking over here" A little brusk I though so I said "well nice chatting with ya" and I went shoppin, he went back to his car. hmm, wonder what their conversation was on the way home! My sister named my car "Wonkers", said, you'd have to be wonkers to drive a car like THAT. Well ten years later, Im still driving my Fastback, she's on her second mini-van. hee hee John 71 Fastback
