Well, VW has abundant parts for its abundant line of cars: The Bug :p In my opinion I think you should keep the vehicle 6v. Not only for historic value and charm but because you would need to change several items on the car (wiper motor, generator/alternator (and they won't fit in the stock 6v mounting by the way), electric chokes (if you have 'em), etc.). Though he's not currently on the list since he's in Japan, Jim Adney <jadney@vwtype3.org> may be able to help you when he gets back in rebuilding or finding a 6v VR. Jim is very knowledgeable and has been working on an *electric* voltage regulator that is superior to the standard mechanical stock units.
