 I found a cleaner that's tough but gentle (sorta like my wife). Anyway, it's
 called Tuff Stuff and I bought it at Discount Auto. I also used a soft brush
 to work in the cleaner and then wiped it down with a detailing cloth. It
 worked well. Don't press to hard on the headliner though, you could damage
 the edges or pull it loose. Any cleaner, save bleach, would be fine.
