Well, it is considered to be a sequential system, but you are correct that it is not truly sequential. #1 fires as the valve opens and #4 fires early. Firing late might cause problems with not all the charge getting in. Firing early just lets the back sides of the #4 and #2 intake valves run "wet," and may be responsible for a very slight bit of roughness at idle. As of 72 (I think) the FI cam is slightly advanced so that both injectors fire somewhat early, but #4 is, by necessity, still much earlier than #1. This was supposed to have smoothed out the idle. I can't tell the difference. If you take apart the late (72-3) distributors you can see that the FI cam is mounted in a slightly advanced position. Jim My plane was late this morning and we were going to miss out connection at Portland to Nagoya. We have rescheduled for tomorrow and I hope we make it this time. If so, this will be my last posting for a month. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Melissa Kepner Jim Adney Laura Kepner-Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin ---------------------------------------------------------------------
