UUUhhhh, threshold braking! I knew it, knew it, knew it...I just couldn't remember the proper name. Thanks James! For those who have ABS the more modern systems are pretty good for the whole (though I wish everyone knew how to drive like a speed driver!) it's just that they don't test 'em. They assume that the car will behave the same way under ABS as it does under light (normal) braking even though every owners manual I've read tells the owner to test the braking so they know what to expect! Hell, even a car without ABS should be tested so the owner has an idea of how the car reacts when suddenly braking. A rear engine car will be much more susceptible to steering wheel input than a front engine car during a sudden braking situation. I will stop here as I would need to get into physics to explain why so just trust me and go test your brakes! ~Toby E. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Re: Slip-slid'n away...(Long, but please read on.) My stock-car driving friend laughs at "ABS" (antilock) because, supposedly, an experienced speed driver can do a better job of "threshold braking" than any ABS system ever does. I haven't tried it, but I do know that I don't like the idea of ABS. -- g-r-a-t-e-f-u-l-l-y---[ email:<fishbowl@conservatory.com> ]---l-i-v-i-n-g d-e-a-d-i-c-a-t-e-d---[ http://www.conservatory.com/ ]-----l-i-g-h-t
