Fule line

I changed my fuel filter today and noticed that the main fuel line (From the
tank to the filter.  My filter is in the engine compartment, not sure if
that is normal or not) is old and brittle.  Here is my question.  How much
of a hassel is it to replace the line?  I figure that the tank needs to be
drained and then just run the new line.  Is this correct or is there a
better way?

Thanks for the advice on the fuel line crimper tool, I will definetly look
in to it.
