Re[2]: Type III mudflaps question

Since my baby sits a little lower than stock you cannot see the gap between
the body and inner flap. I also mounted the flaps up high to keep them
from being too close to the ground and to insure more complete coverage
across the tire (they don't come even close to dragging, but just in case I
come across a tall speed bump :) It did, however, hang a little cock-eyed.
I took one of those wire wrap zips (whatever they're called) and threaded
it through the inner hole left by the stock bracket and looped it through a
natural hole in the fender area. This leveled it and kept it from flapping
away wildly as I drove (or maybe I should say, as I used to drive...)

I used a washer on both sides of the lip mounting and used a Nyloc (self
locking) nut to secure the bolts. The washers were fairly wide, the inside
washer being wider, to distribute the pressure of the mounting and to keep the
bolt and nut from crushing through the flap.

To be excact. The holes in the fenders I needed too, of course. The
problem was, when they were bolted to the fender lip, there was a 1 inch
distance between flap and inner fender, where the flap is supposed to be
bolted on. When pressed against inner fender, the flap doesn`t hang down
straight anymore. So I had to put something between flap and inner
fender
to cover that 1 inch.
