Hello all. About the FI or Carb matter-- KEEP THE FI! PLEASE! BEFORE ITS TOO LATE! My 71 Square was FI, but the previous owner took it out and put in dual Webers. That would have been peachy keen if he had thought to replace the fuel pump. He left the pump designed for FI in the car, and now (Friday to be exact) a few VW friends are coming over to help me. I was riding to school one day, and it just died on me. After further investigation, I realized one the carbs was screwed up. Only after a few days of thinking did I realize that the fuel pump was squirting it out at a higher pressure than he carbs could handle. Now the question... To fix my car, I have a few options (feel free to give me more options) : 1. Get the FI system back from the original owner and re-install it. 2. Repair the dual carbs and get a new pump. (could I install it in the front where the present one is, or do I have to put in the back engine compartment?) 3. Find a single Carb I could put on instead of the dualies. Which would be most prudent? Which would be easiest and cheapest? Which would be best over all? If didn't think of something, please tell me. Thanks in advance. Ben Lowry
