Keith has a good point.  I would recommend saving your pennies, buy the 
complete muffler, then go have it ceramic coated (or similar process) to 
insure it lasts a very long time.

Unless the exaust was JUST put on a car,, it is never worth trying to save
it from a junkyard car.  you have to really butcher it to get the nuts loose
and then after you've paid for it what have you got?  rust!

I do have stock NOS German mufflers for $90.  there still out there.
