Thanks for the quick (and numerous) replies to my question. It took 3 of us to remove the passenger seat - our 8 year old son manning the screwdriver to hold the tab down, I was outside the car lifting the lever and my wife was in the back seat pushing the seat forward with her feet. I managed to loosen the seat with some WD-40 and a few whacks of a plastic mallet. Of course I did discover the seats did not have to be removed to replace the carpet, but I need to recover the seats anyway. Now, the real reason I'm doing this is because it's been on my to-do list for about a year, but I found a Bus and I've been told I need to finish the Squareback before I can buy the Bus!....
