Greg, I would check your injectors. I think if you pull your plugs, you may find one or two cylinders that have been running more rich. I had an injector fail on #3 and the symptoms were not noticeable at idle, but only at about 40 MPH in third gear, when it would buck like it was running out of fuel. What was actually happening was that Mr. Number three injector decided to stick fully open at that speed. I was unable to tell by pulling injector plugs at idle, but when I put my spare injector in #3, the problem went away immediately. Maybe pull one out of the '71 if you don't have a spare.
