Up through mid 72, the seats mount on two rails. There is a spring
catch on the inner rail at the front that keeps the seat from going
forward farther than the usual adjustment range. You have to push it
down with a screwdriver (to avoid pinching a finger) from above while
you push the seat forward.
Take very good care of the plastic seat rail slides. No matter how
bad their condition, they are irreplacable. I find that the steel
rails underneath are almost always bent, probably from someone
removing them carelessly. Straighten them with a straightedge and a
pair of channel locks. Remove the plastic slides first.
