The original pads had some material bonded to the back of the pads
that might have done some good for anti squeal; the metal plates that
fit over one of the retaining pins are anti-ROTATION plates and have
nothing to do with noise. They are in the microfilm and come with
rebuild kits also, but they are not very important. I have never had
pistons rotate on me, however it IS important that the rotational
position of the piston be correct.
