I've seen people cut into the panel underneath the back seats by the heater
outlets. I personally wouldn't do that, though.

A cool setup might be to fabricate some small boxes for right underneath
the ends of the dash, right by the doors to fit some 4" circulars or maybe
some 4x6s.  I saw this a while back, it had a cool symmetry with the dash
and a parcel tray and the speakers at the ends.
