Dear T-3 List: Anyone had any success installing modern inertia-reel three-point seat belts in a T-3? Most late-model cars have the retractor assembly hidden in a pocket at the base of the door pillar. It looks like something that could be adapted to a T-3, with a little cutting and welding. I would really prefer brand new belts, although I expect to pay US$90 to US$150 each from a dealer. New belt assemblies from late T-3s havent been avalible for at least 10 years (so my local VW dealer says). I'm not inclined to use 25-year-old junk-yard belts of unknown history. Belt webbing does not improve with age. Furthermore, belts of the the modern design, with automatic tensioning, are far more comfortable to wear. Any ideas? -- Bob Couse-Baker '64 Notch (light at the end of the tunnel)
