O.K. The case and crank are going go to a local machine shop recommeded by my parts shop. Align-bore and polish crank. What else? It's the original case from 69. Has case savers (although three came out with the studs). I'm going to use stock p&cs due to FI (which works flawlessly). I'm running a "single muff" without those funky type III air mixers. Has anyone had any problems with this setup. I have never been into the bottom end of VW motor so any advide will be appreciated. I have numerous books but experience is always better. Also, my wheel cylinder wasn't stuck, the brakes were, for some reason, adjusted way too tight. I haven't driven the car for more than ten miles since I put it together last year so surprises are to be expected. I ordered a brand new german type III master cylinder. $85.00 but I really wanted the dash light and braking system to be stock and as safe as possible. I also bought these really cool circa late 60's, early 70's typeIII wheel cylinder rebuild kits. Very cool and dusty at local parts store. The more I look at this car, the more I want to believe that it has only the indicated 98k miles on it. The rear brakes were gorgeous when I took them apart. The stars move by hand (if you have long fingernails). The rust is bad but whose isn't? Is there any way to tell if the odometer has rolled over? Rich
