Ah dear friends, if you disconnect your generator from the voltage regulator, be absitively posolutely sure to POLARIZE the generator before re-connecting it and starting your engine. I didn't do that after rewiring everything from the starter back, and that cost me a generator! Yes, yes, I know, I know... I always POLARIZE it...I never forget to POLARIZE it... I always make it a priority to POLARIZE it...except, ahem, this one time. And it cost me a generator plus a large chunk of time removing/replacing the generator (this was on my Type II, aptly eclept "Hitler's Revenge"). If you don't know how to POLARIZE your generator, any good manual will have an illustration showing how to make simple connections to a battery. I know, because that illustration is in every one of the manuals that I ignored when I forgot to POLARIZE the crummy thing. Oh, did I mention that you should "POLARIZE"???? Phil dillard@suu.edu
