The one key system

Several months ago I established (via the list) that my '66 Squareback
(Phillip) originaly came with a "one key system". This week my
locksmith told me that he cannot make one key fit the doors and
ignition.
	I brought him the tumblers and ignition "cylinder" from my summer parts
car stash (all the parts came out of '66 vintage t3's). He made a key to
the door tumbler code, but then could not rekey the ignition to match.
He says that the door key needs to be deeper (or shallower?) and thus
can't be used in the ignition.
What parts do I have?
* Ignition cylinder assembly(wires/housing/tumbler) #311.905.851A  It
appears to have a steering wheel locking tumbler. (Phillip's wheel does
not lock)
* Door lock assembly: #311.837.217 (Same # on Phillip's door parts)

P.S. Lee Hedges has T3 part listing for sale for $75 through NONA.
Unfortunately, that is $75 more than I can afford now. In the meantime
I will rely on the genorosity of this list...

Thanks for any help,
Peter Parker
