The plastic pieces are probably NOT your problem. You should first check to see if the upper torsion bar has come loose in one of the upper swing arms. Check out the construction in the Bentley manual, then grab the top of one front tire and yank it fron side to side. Better yet, get a friend to move it while you watch. Wear of the thrust pieces might cause1-2mm of motion, but if you have more than this, something has come loose. Hang onto your parts, however. They are probably no longer available.
