I'm on a streak -- two messages in a row. I have quite a bit of looseness in the front end of my '65 Variant. So much that it makes me cringe when I drive over the cobblestone roads here in Zagreb and listen to it chatter. I looked at the Haynes and Bentley manuals on how to replace the little gray plastic spacers (for lack of a better term). I also have some needle bearings and other spacers that seem to be for the front end They are all still packed in original VW bags. Most were bought in 1971. I received them from the previous owner with a bunch of other NOS parts. Since the lateral looseness in the front end is NOT due to the front end bearings, I am sure that it is due to the need to replace the spacers and whatever else in the front end. I want to tackle this, but would like some ideas first before I start. Actually, it would help if someone just tells me that the water isn't cold before I jump in. Thanks, John
