The mileage for my 67 fastback was between 25 & 30 HWY, and 17 & 22 CITY. This was with Dual 32's. 2Cents.... -- Shawn & Lisa Albertin Air Cooled &Loving it!! 67Fastback---65Variant:) details@superior.net New York U.S.A. ---------- | From: Toby Erkson <Toby_Erkson@ccm2.hf.intel.com> | To: type-3@umich.edu | Subject: Re: MPG survey | Date: Wednesday, May 14, 1997 10:03 AM | | Economy? What's dat? :) If I drive the speed limit (yeah, right) on the | interstate I get 21MPG. In town it's 17MPG, if I'm taking it easy. Real | world figures for me are normally 19-20 highway, 15-16 city. I think the | local Texaco station is dedicating a new 92octane gas pump in my honor... | | My ignition system has definitely improved my mileage but I think you can see | why I want to convert to fuel injection. Not only would FI squeeze a couple | more ponies outta the engine but I'm pretty sure it would improve my mileage by | a point or two as well. | Toby Erkson | air_cooled_nut@pobox.com | '72 VW Squareback 1.6L bored and stroked to 2.0L | '75 Porsche 914 1.8L for sale | Portland, Oregon, USA | | ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ | Subject: MPG survey | Author: type-3-errors@umich.edu at SMTPGATE | Date: 5/13/97 10:44 PM | | | Several posts have mentioned that certain folks MPG figures were too | low. Just what is an acceptable/expected range city and hwy? | The Dustin Hoffman add says 27 MPG for a '66 fastback. That must be | dual carbs on the hwy... My stock '66 Sqbk probably should get tuned | up, but it has been getting 18 MPG city. (I havn't really dared take it | out for more than a couple trips on the hwy yet) | Toby, kinda curious what the fire breathing motor of yours is like on | the "economy" tip... | | Peter Parker | Portland, Oregon
