Hey all - With the recent threads on clutchs, I thought I'd describe a tool I made for assisting in this chore. Take a thick wall piece of tubing, about 3/4 in diameter and about 4 inches long. Cut a notch in on end about 1/4 in wide and about 1 inch deep. This notch is to fit over the wingnut on the end of the clutch cable, so size it appropriately. Be sure to round off edges to keep from cutting into the wingnut. Take a 1/2 inch drive tool and place into the other end of the tube. Take yer trusty hammer and mash the tube into a square shape that fits over the drive. I used a 3/8 female to 1/2 inch male adapter as my mash against mandrel. A vice helps this operation. Now with the new tool attached to said 1/2 to 3/8 adapter, a U-joint swivel adapter and a long adapter (I use a speedwrench) you can bend down the top of the front tin and reach the clutch adjust wingnut. Adjust to your hearts content. Really useful after replacing the cable. Later - - Jeff '67 Sqbk
