Re: rear end noises


Yeah, driving it 'til it breaks -- not smart.  One item, no matter how 
small or inexpensive, could lead to greater damage and cost.

Yesterday I replaced the inner left cv joint, both boots on the left shaft and
cleaned and repacked the outer left cv joint.  I did this trying to
eliminate a clunking noise at low speeds when turning.

Unfortunately, the thunking is still there, although a little quieter.
...
I'm getting the attitude of just drive it until it breaks, then I'll
be able to tell what's wrong....

Anyone have any thoughts on what might be going wrong here?
