It sounds like you're using synthetic oil. Definitely not a bad thing, but
you may want to switch to a blend (synthetic mixed with conventional oil)
if you are. Another option is to bump up the idle RPM a bit if it's not
idling between 800-900 RPM (for a stocker 1000 RPM is probably as high as
you'd want to go).
Unlikely, but possible nonetheless, your oil pressure springs may be
fatigued after many years of use (thus requiring replacement). Also check
to see if any debris is interfering with the little pistons that regulate
the oil pressure. If the pistons are scored they must be replaced; if
there are little particles then just clean them off the piston, spring and
from inside the column the piston/spring reside.
Check your oil pressure sensor just to make sure there isn't any debris in the
opening. Check you engine cooling system. Maybe the cooling flaps aren't
opening up fully (possibly because the regulating bellows down by the push rod
tubes is malfunctioning).
I'd say disregard the rumor (unless your engine has over 100,000 miles and you
drive it fairly hard...)

Recently, when I have been driving my Type-3 for any more than 10 min.
The oil light comes on, but only when the car is Idiling, like when I put
the clutch in or it is in neutral, it turns off when the engine is out of
Idle. It just did an oil change no more than a month ago with 20/50 so
it's not like the oil is too thin, I've heard that this means that your
engine is about to take a dump! Please E-mail me if you have any
suggestions.
Thanks,
