Lowering Fun...

I printed out all of the suggestions on lowering the front end of the old
Squareback. The first parts went well (and quickly, ) but then I stripped
the clamp bolt an it all went sideways from there. I had to regroup (went
to breakfast with my wife and to Sears to buy 1) a puller tool and 2) a
pickle fork. I will never attempt to pull the ball joints and/or the
control arms off without these. Then test drove a '90 BMW 325i Convertible.
Which made me even more inspired to get home and finish the lowering job.
Who wants to begin high car payments when the VW is perfectly fine?) So it
took a few more hours to finally get it right, because the first two times
I didn't rotate the control arm enough, and it looked the same. But in the
end it all worked out. (I also didn't mark the origianl location well
enough-thought I had.) Anyway, thanks goes especially to Jason for the
step-by-step procedure. -Mark
