She had it under the tree as soon as it went up and wouldn't let me shake it. She made me open it last to increase the suspense. Then I found out her ulterior motive was to send me outside to time her Bug. Last weekend I tried it out on my 6 volt T34 and it worked out just fine. It has instructions for making it work on a 6 volt car that basically says that you hook the timing light up to a 12 volt battery and jumper a ground wire from the 12 volt battery to a suitable ground on the 6 volt car. One thing puzzled me though. When I set the dial to 0 my advance only went up to 15 degrees. I think that I wrongly assumed that I should set the distributer so the total advance is around 30 degrees. The car has good pickup now but it just doesn't feel right. I have a hunch that I should be reading this the same way that I read my dwell meter which has numbers for 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder cars and that I need to read the 8 cylinder readings and divide it in half. So I would guess that the 15 degrees of advance I was seeing from the timing light was really the 30 degrees that I was looking for. Any comments. ---Larry Edson, Editor Karmann Ghia Club of North America Campbell, CA '65 Type 345 (electric sunroof) '66 Type 343 '67 Bug (sunroof) '49 Ford pickup
