Howdy By the strangest coincidence I received a letter from VW of Germany yesterday, on the day that my car clocked 200 000 miles, telling me all the "birth info" that I requested from them some time ago. It goes something like: Thank you for you enquiry. Regarding your vehicle our records reveal the following: VIN 369022143 Model 362 - 023 Engine Not regestered Colour Diamond blue Production date 27 September 1968 Delivery date 30 September 1968 Delivered to South Africa This is just great but it creats some more questions. Why would the engine not be registered? Were all T3 vehicles assembled completely by VAG and then shipped to other countries, or were the partially assembled cars shipped in crates to where ever they were going? My car was sold for the first time on 15 January 1969, so if it took say 6 - 8 weeks for the car to be shipped to SA, be delivered to the factory, inspected and dispatched to the selling dealer where it probably sat untill it was sold, it could just be that my car was assebled in Germany. Does anybody have anything to add to this? BTW in which parts of the world, besides Germany, were T3 cars assembled? Regards Adriaan Loedolff adriaan@norton.ctech.ac.za '69 Variant Automatic
