That *#$%@ cable!

Friends, you can avoid heartbreak and agony if you pay attention to: THE CABLE!

Yesterday I stuffed the engine back into "Hitler's Revenge" (my T2). It is
a very s-l-o-w operation because the goodies I have on the engine...e.g., very large
Dellorto carbs and a bunch of other modifications....make reaching and tightening nuts
and bolts a torturous endeavor. Simply cannot get a wrench on a couple of the nuts/bolts.
Took well more than an hour to do a "20 minute" job.

The last thing I needed to attach was the accelerator cable. Looked for it...where
did that thing go? Uh oh... it had gotten jammed between the transmission bellhousing
and the engine. It was resolutely wedged in and no amount of tugging or cussing
could dislodge it.

Guess what? Had to loosen all the nuts & bolts enough to move the engine backwards
a quarter of an inch. Remember...can't get a wrench on some of the nuts & bolts.
So...more than an hour of contortion work to move the engine that quarter of an inch...
an easy tug freed the cable...and then more than an hour (won't tell you how many beers)
to tighten everything back.

A largely wasted afternoon...when I could have been taking a vitally important siesta.

My friends, I implore you to avoid the errors of my misguided ways...WATCH THAT CABLE!
