Hi there,

one might think because I live in Germany, I live in VW heaven. That is
not so. In the late seventies and early eughties most cars on junkyards
were VW`s. That was also the time when you could buy a driveable VW for
around 100 German Marks. These times gave long gone. The wrecking yards
are cleared of VW`s. From time to time you find one or two bugs,
sometimes a bay-window bus, type 3`s and 4`s or split window buses you
can just forget about them.

About the parts your searching for: A have never ever seen an Ambulance
on a wrecking yard. Air-conditions were never really popular in Germany
since in winter it gets cold enough and in summer it`s never (seldom)
that hot over a longer period. The only air-conditioning I have ever
seen on an air-cooled VW, was on `96 bug (yes, mexican bugs are sold in
Germany) It`s available as genuine option from VW. Since in Mexico they
still build the bay-window bus, it could be possible that they also have
air-conditions. Maybe some of the Califorians on the list, who don`t
live that far from Mexico know more about this.

Bye,

Roland
