Hey All,

I'm Sonya, 34, Spouse->Gary, 40-->2 kids(Son 6 1/2, Daughter 3 1/2). We reside in Anaheim, CA. Grew up with a 1963 VW "Doodle bug". My parents got the house, car and me all in the same year! Man, I loved that car!...So now I'm married and commuting 60 MI R/T. Its almost summer of '96 and gas prices are going up-up-up. That darn '88 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is sure a gas guzzler. So I suggest buying a bug to commute. Their cute;)Good on Gas 8-) BUT they feel FLIMSY on the freeway!!! My husband suggests a Type 3 Squareback. We settle on a 1971 Fastback($1500). Didn't know engine was about to blow, drove it for 6 months (Which more than paid for itself had I kept putting gas into the Jeep @ $80/wk) When engine went...Husband bought all the books and totally redid the mechanicals, electrical, body in about 3 weeks and $2G's. Now he is totally smitten. Every week he is looking in the darn recycler for deals. We currently own a 1970 Fastback($400) used for parts (Drove it home!) and a 1972 Squareback($250) which was warehoused for 10 years(No engine-But otherwise complete w/extra parts) and is a project car. I want to rebuild this engine so that I'll know whats going on should I encounter some malfunction. Use to work on my 1969 Chevy Nova and 1975 Fiat Spider [Grandpa's hobby was working on Cars...So I kinda picked it up] NOW...We're all bitten by the T3's even my kids...they have already claimed which one of our T3's they want :-)

So if your ever in the South Bay, driving a T3 and some mad woman is waving & honking at you...It's probably me ;-)

BTW...I'm in HW/SW Acquisition & Technical Support and my husband is in Fire Protection.
