Greg, Please post: I have a 1972 Fastback that I've had a couple of years now that I'd like to find a good home for. Watch the upcoming issue of GASS, it should be in the classified section. The car is located in Western Pennsylvania, but I now live in Utah. 1972 VW TYPE 3 FASTBACK. $1,700 OBO -Good solid motor and tranny. (Rebuilt not that long ago.) -4 new tires. -Newer Diehard battery with about highest cranking amps avail. -Perfect front seats. (Not a tear or a blemish at all.) -Very good rear seat. -New Brakes all the way around. -All bearings regreased and inspected. -CV's regreased and inspected. New boots. -Manual Trans. with unique Hurst Shifter. -Perfect gas tank, my best one, with no rust inside or out. -From Florida. Solid body, NOT your usual rust hole on wheels. -Only areas coming through are in the rear motor compartment, where someone left that stock insulation to soak up some water. And there's a few a places beneath the battery area under the back seat and a little in the driver inner rocker. THE CAR IS STILL VERY SOLID THOUGH. -Front hood has a few blemishes, so I HAVE ANOTHER PERFECT HOOD THAT I'LL THROW IN WITH THE VEHICLE. -The rear motor lid had some bad bondo filling done on it and I have a PERFECT REAR LID ALSO THAT I'LL INCLUDE. -Floor pans very nice. -Fenders and quarters-PERFECT-NO RUST AT ALL, EVEN ON DRIVE SIDE UNDER ANTENNA. -Body color: Clementine Orange. -New Bosch Super Plugs. -New cap, points, condenser, wires etc. All Bosch of course. -Motor converted to single, two barrel progressive Weber Carb., a workhorse. NO FUEL INJECTION HASSLES!!! -No heat exchangers, j-tubes and header exhasaust, but the car basically looks stock. -Always Garaged. The car has had lots of TLC. I put a lot of money into this vehicle, mainly concentrating on the mechanical side. I bought only the best, proper Bosch and VW parts for it and it really only needs some finishing touches to be a nice car. Since I haven't had any luck finding a home for it as of yet, so I'd only like to sell it for what I have in it. YOU COULDN'T BUY ALL THESE NEW PARTS YOURSELF AND PUT ALL OF THEM ON THE CAR FOR LESS MONEY. The title is good, and there would be NO PAPERWORK HASSLES TO DEAL WITH. I have too many cars and not enough space, so I'd really like to find a good home for this Fastback. I've put a lot of time and effort into it and will gladly give you every detail on the exact condition of the car at your request, so no time is wasted. There are more pristine Type 3's out there, but five or six thousand for those seems a little steep to me. I can send photos upon request as well.
