For me it never worked to be driving the car and restoring it during the same period of time. I always seemed to lose ground. If I were me, I would immediately go out and slash all four tires so there is no possibility of driving the vehicle until after the total restoration has been completed. Others may have had a more favorable experience with using/restoring the vehicle simultaneously. If so, they can advise you in that direction.
