Jim may be correct about relays on 12 volt cars - but here is what you wanted to know. A standard four pole relay will usually be marked with four numbers 30, 85, 86, 87. Sending power through 30 and 85 will complete the connection 86, 87. So, at the solenoid on the starter, unplug the wire that comes from the ignition switch, and plug it into terminal 30 on the relay. Ground terminal 85. Connect terminal 86 to the main battery lead on the starter. Connect 87 to the solenoid. Turning the ignition switch to start will complete the 30, 85 circut, causing the 86,87 circut to close, sending power to the starter. Use at least 12 ga wire between the positive starter terminal and 86, and between 87 and the solenoid. Remember, you are doing this to make certain that full power gets to the solenoid, so use heavy wire. Tim Dapper > On 23 Jul 97, James L. In general, 12 V cars don't need the relay. Is > your T3 an automatic?
